69 Nayatt Road, Barrington, RI 02806

Property Description

This Barrington waterfront estate featured in Architectural Digest with nearly 3 acres and continuous water views of Narragansett Bay evokes Nayatt Point's golden era as a premier summer retreat. Built for Henry S. Chafee by George W.W. Brewster, the home sits on the site of a former Victorian house using the original foundation. To the rear, bay views and the iconic lighthouse provide the perfect backdrop for entertaining on dual stone terraces. Inside, a central living area with marble floors consists of an entry hall, living room, and dining area divided by 2 fireplace walls and flanked by 2 wings. One wing descending the sloping grade includes the owner's suite, bonus room, and a double guest room. Retire to the main suite with water views from its sitting room, skylighted sunroom, and the terrace. The opposite wing offers a kitchen with professional-grade appliances, teak counters, and a water-facing breakfast area. The family room showcases a massive stone fireplace and more water views through oversized French doors out to the grounds. Finally, the carriage house, the only remaining original structure, provides a 1st-floor garage with a fabulous 2nd-floor apartment to customize to your live/work/play needs. This superlative slice of coastal living is down the road from the amenities of the RI Country Club. The Barrington Marina, town center, dining, the bike path, and vibrant community make this one of the state's finest properties.
